Entity-Relationship Modeling with Normalization dominates database applications. Semantic modeling is used in the Semantic Web and other knowledgebase applications. Object modeling dominates engineering applications and software engineering. These logical models have been incompatible with each other, and between models of the same type. In an attempt to resolve this dilemma, we replaced Entity-Relational modeling with a Semantic-Relational database storage model. Results. By creating relational table structures that hold data semantically, one can create general purpose database structures called Equal Format Databases. The more robust one makes the structure, the more forms of data and metadata that can be stored. Data in this format, carrying its contextual identification and control information, is much more transportable because of its structural independence. Multiple logical models can be mixed together simultaneously.
