Parents were identified as the source providing the largest amount of support. Recipients' gender was consistently related to both received and perceived social support, whereas age, initiator status and whether one had a new partner were related to perceived support. Furthermore, received support had no effect on psychological symptoms, whereas perceived support had both main and buffering effects on psychological symptoms.Read More
