Title: Radiolysis of CCl3Br in mixed hydrocarbon matrices at 77 K
Abstract: In this article the results of the radiolysis of CCl3Br in the mixed hydrocarbon matrices (methylcyclohexane-iso-pentane and 3-methylpentane-iso-pentane) at 77 K are presented. Based on the results, the reaction of CCl3Br− with the primary RH+ cation leading to the form of (CCl3+Br−) should be rather excluded as a source of VIS bands formation in the irradiated CCl3Br-alkane mixtures at low temperature. A new interpretation of the results based on the solid phase ionization potential is proposed. It may help in understanding the reactions occurring in the irradiated CCl3Br-alkane systems and the positive hole transfer between solvent cation and solute molecule at 77 K.
