Title: Linear Stark and Pseudo‐stark Effect of the F Centre in LiF and NaF
Abstract: Abstract A linear Stark and pseudo‐Stark effect is observed at the zero‐phonon absorption lines 5456 Å in NaF and 4874 Å in LiF at 4.2 °K. From the combination of uniaxial stress and electric field results the corresponding colour centre is found to belong to the C 3v point symmetry group. In accordance with the model for the ionized R centre (F centre) the lines are due to transitions between a single ground state and a degenerate excited state. For the analysis of the experimental results the method of moments is used and a comparison with the Stark and pseudo‐Stark effect of the R centre is presented.
