Abstract: Objective: The current standard of care dictates radical hysterectomy for patients with cervical cancer stage 1A2 and higher. Recent studies have suggested that parametrectomy can be avoided in a select group of patients, however the outlined factors are based on hysterectomy specimens. The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of parametrial involvement in patients with cervical cancer treated with radical hysterectomy and to investigate the ability of pathologic findings on cone specimens to predict the presence of parametrial spread in subsequent radical hysterectomy.
