Abstract: An employment of the Heavy Ion Fast-Ignitor for the advanced fuel targets creates a unique possibility to realize a thermonuclear burning at the acceptable level of the driver energy. The cylindrical magnetized targets and the charge-compensating beams are considered. The unique values of the specific power for the ignition beams Jm∼1×108TW/g and the ignition beam energy Eign∼60MJ are employed to obtain a wave of the thermonuclear burning in a cylindrical magnetized channel. (The fuel was considered as a mixture D0.93He0.1 and the Pt ions energy—as εi∼200–300GeV.) A DT-tablet was also considered for ignition of the advanced fuel. In this case, the specific power for the beam reduced to Jm∼4×106TW/g. A set of numerical simulations with the new code was fulfilled to investigate the ignition problems in the two-dimensional and three temperature approximation.
