Title: A stalagmite date from Sirijordgrotten, Northern Norway
Abstract: A layer near the bottom of a stalagmite from Sirijordgrotten, Vefsn, Norway, was dated by the uranium decay series disequilibrium method to 7.57 ± 0.42 ka B.P. This suggests that the stalagmite grew in Atlanticum (8000–5000 B.P.), which was the climatic optimum of post-glacial time in Norway. The result fits other stalagmite dates and the retreat of the lowland ice-sheet in Scandinavia.
