Title: A comment on self-similar breakup for inertialess Newtonian liquid jets
Abstract: We consider an inertialess Newtonian liquid jet in a slender body approximation. Recent work has shown that such jets evolve towards breakup in finite time, and that the asymptotics of the breakup is described by a similarity solution. A mathematical proof of this fact is still lacking. In this note, we give a proof of self-similar breakup asymptotics under an a priori assumption on the force in the jet. The results provide a partial explanation for the observed self-similar breakup asymptotics in Newtonian liquid jets.
