Title: Application of Double-Balloon Endoscopy for Afferent Limb Lesions of Roux-en-Y Surgical Anastomoses
Abstract: Background and Aims: Roux-en-Y operation often makes insertion of an endoscope into the afferent limb difficult. We have already reported that double-balloon endoscopy with an overtube enables endoscopic access to the entire small intestine. In this study, we evaluated the usefulness of double-balloon endoscopy in the afferent limb including pancreatobiliary disorders in patients with Roux-en-Y operation. Methods: We had 8 consecutive patients with Roux-en-Y reconstruction that have undergone trans-oral double-balloon endoscopy for the examination of the afferent limb between April 2002 and November 2004 at Jichi medical school hospital in Japan.
