Title: The Health Sciences Library in the Community College
Abstract: Two years ago Midland College's Learning Resource Center, on the inception of an Associate Degree of Nursing Program, decided to establish a Health Sciences Library to serve the needs of the health sciences students. Now, aftcr graduating the first class of nurses, the college reviewed its initial decisions on the establishment and organization of the health sciences collection in preparation for two new health sciences programs. The procedures involved in managing a separate collection with a different classification system were evaluated, particularly as to efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the LRC's technical services department. Some changes to the initial procedures were then implemented. This article describes the evaluation and changes and addresses the problem of the LRC simultaneously maintaining a separate collection with the general academic collection.
