Title: Determination of the rate of formation and of the thickness of the diffusion layer in the system Fe-Al in the temperature range 200–600 °C
Abstract: The rate of formation of the diffusion layer in the system Fe-Al in the temperature range 200–600 °C was determined. It was found that the temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient changes abruptly at about 400 °C. For the middle of the concentration interval at temperatures in the range 200–400 °C D = 6.518 × 10-11 exp (-2685 KT) while at 400–600 °C for the region where no intermetallic compounds are formed = 6.567 × 10-6 exp (-10466 KT) In addition, a method based on anodic dissolution in molten AlCl3- NaCl-KCl electrolyte was developed for the determination of the thickness of the aluminium layer and the diffusion underlayer.
