Title: Description of new small-sizedBarbusspecies from the Sanaga Basin in Cameroon. Comments onB. jaeand on the taxonomic status ofB. condei(Ostariophysi; Cyprinidae)
Abstract: Abstract Some small-sized Barbus species (Cyprinidae), of the artificial group characterized by the absence of barbels and by an incomplete lateral line, are described from collections of fishes from the Sanaga River Basin in Cameroon, Africa. Barbus nounensis and Barbus parajae are described as new species. The problematic taxonomic position of two series of specimens is briefly discussed. A geographic morphotype of B. parajae from Congo Brazzaville is described. Morphological differences between different populations of Barbus jae are studied. Some comments are given on the description and type material of B. condei. Keywords : B. nounensis n. sp.
