Title: The Role of Minimally Invasive Surgery for Pancreatic Pathology
Abstract: Over the past decade, significant advances have been made in the application of minimally invasive techniques to the management of both benign and malignant pancreatic disorders. However, laparoscopic pancreatic procedures are still at an evaluative stage in terms of their indications and the technical variations used. Laparoscopic pancreatic surgery is currently used for staging malignant pancreatic tumors, for the occasional management of inflammatory disorders of the pancreas, and for the resection of small benign tumors and cystic neoplasms in the body or tail of the pancreas in select patients.
