Title: A survey of local census data collection in Massachusetts
Abstract: This paper reports on a survey conducted to describe a local census, the uses to which it is put, and the means by which it is made available to the citizens of one state (Massachusetts). Section one describes the survey's rationale and methodology. The second part describes the general results of the census survey, explains some of the uses communities in Massachusetts make of local census data, and offers basic information regarding availability and format of the collected census data. A table of specific survey results and examples of survey charts illustrating how survey responses were recorded are included in the paper along with examples of the more common types of census forms.
