Abstract: Starting with a thorough and self-contained account of transformations between inertial observers, the most general frame transformation is derived, which fully incorporates the Michelson-Morley experiment and the transverse Doppler effect. Lorentz and Marinov transformations are presented as two particular cases. On a rigorous mathematical ground, the paper presents a theory, more general than special relativity and with three degrees of freedom, that completely agrees with a well-established phenomenology.
