Title: Preferential behavior of white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone 1931) by progressive temperature–salinity simultaneous interaction
Abstract: For different combinations acclimation temperature–salinity of shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) the preferred temperature range was from 26.1 to 31.4 °C without salinity effect. Shrimp acclimated at 10‰ and 19‰ preferred salinities higher than those to which they were acclimated. However, shrimp acclimated at 28‰ and 36 ‰ preferred lower salinities than those to which they were acclimated. This behavior was associated with the selection of a higher temperature. Behavioral studies of organisms exposed to experimental environmental gradients allowed the establishment of optimal cultivation conditions of L. vannamei.
