Title: The effect of perchloric acid on the electronic absorption spectrum of nickel perchlorate in solution
Abstract: The addition of perchloric acid intensifies the absorption of solutions of nickel perchlorate at the maxima 393 mμ and 720 mμ. This is attributed to the formation of a complex ion [Ni(H2O)5ClO4]+. Spectroscopic evidence for the formation of this species is adduced and the thermodynamic constants for the reaction are calculated.
