Title: The foundations of franchise regulation: Issues and evidence
Abstract: The findings of this work show that the length of franchise contracts increases with the contracting experience of the franchisors and decreases as the potential free-riding in franchise systems increases. The results also reveal that franchisors alleviate franchisees' fears of hold-up by providing them with longer contract duration.
