Title: The Youden Square as an Experimental Design for the Field Evaluation of Boll Weevil Insecticides1
Abstract: Field evaluations of insecticides for boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis Boheman, control from 1959 through 1961 utilizing Youden square plot arrangements demonstrated advantages of this technique for comparing large numbers of insecticidal treatments. Guthion® (O,O-dimethyl-S (4-oxo-1,2,3-benzotriazine-3-(4ll)-ylmethyl) phosphorodithioate) was the most consistently effective insecticide for boll weevil control tested during this period.
