Thus the time-reversible thermostats and ergostats used in simulating Gibbsian equilibrium dynamics or nonequilibrium steady-state dynamics should impose ergodicity and mixing. Though it is hard to visualize many-dimensional phase-space distributions, recent developments provide several practical numerical approaches to the problem of ergodic mixing.
