Title: The evaluation of decision aids: the role of the decision owner
Abstract: AbstractThis paper is a discussion of the role patient preferences should play in the evaluation of medical decision aids. The use of 'practitioner acceptability' as an unproblematic criterion in the evaluation of such aids is questioned, along with the wider imbalance in resource allocation between research relevant to the 'technical' and 'value' aspects of medical decision-making.Key Words: Decision aidsUtility
