And it has long been recognized that such core documents of the Qumran library as the Community Rule (IQS) and Thanksgiving Hymns (1QH) contain wisdom elements. But the Qumran library has also yielded other works that appear to be Jewish wisdom texts from the Second Temple period. This paper provides a basic introduction to the corpus of Qumran wisdom texts and discusses why they are important.
