Title: $A novel measure of fingerprint image quality using the Fourier spectrum
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to quantitatively analyze the effect of fingerprint image quality on the performance of fingerprint recognition, in order to improve the identification capability of fingerprint recognition systems. In addition, this study proposes a new measure of fingerprint image quality using the Fourier spectrum. The proposed method measures the fingerprint image quality based on the global characteristics of the image. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm shows better performance in the quality classification of fingerprint images than the existing algorithms, and this leads to a 6% improvement in the false rejection rate.
