Title: Study of the H2O/NaY system: An example of the application of 129Xe n.m.r. of the xenon probe to the investigation of the location of adsorbed phases
Abstract: The xenon adsorbed on NaY zeolite at various water concentrations, C, has been studied by 129Xe n.m.r. From the dependence of the chemical shift δ on the xenon concentration for each value of C and that of ° on C at Xe = 0, it is easy to differentiate between water adsorbed in regions accessible or inaccessible to water — to measure volume of water in pores — to determine the blockage of windows by water. This technique can be generalized to all adsorbed phases in any zeolites.
