Abstract: An algorithm is presented for the inversion of a square matrix having real and complex-conjugate columns. An example of such a matrix is the modal matrix whose columns are eigenvectors of an arbitrary square matrix with real elements. It is shown that the inversion of an n×n modal matrix can be achieved by a single real matrix inversion of the same dimension.
