Title: Cubic → hexagonal phase transformation in ZnS:Mn:Cu(Cl) phosphors
Abstract: From the XRD studies of ZnS:Mn:Cu and ZnS:Mn:Cu(Cl) phosphors, it has been found that Mn2+ does not play an independent role but incorporation of Cl- ions stimulates the cubic to hexagonal phase transformation so that the hexagonal phase increases with Cl- concentration in ZnS:Mn:Cu(Cl) phosphors. An attempt has been made to explain the role of Mn2+ and Cl- ions in the mechanism underlying the phase transformation.
