Minimum breakdown potentials of 308 and 332 V were found at pod=0·22 Torr cm in two discharge tubes with different ratios of electrode diameter to separation (8·8 and 3·0 respectively). The ionization coefficient η (=α/E) was deduced from the I/V characteristics under the same conditions as the breakdown potential; and some estimates were made of the generalized secondary ionization coefficient ω/α. The results for the breakdown potential are considered to be more reliable than those for the two ionization coefficients.Read More
