Title: Adsorption phenomena on glass surfaces. I. A microcalorimetric study of adsorption of alcohols on controlled-pore glass
Abstract: Adsorption of lower monofunctional alcohols from hexane solutions on controlled pore glass was studied using flow-microcalorimetry. Original and silicone treated glass surfaces were compared for their adsorption properties. For butan(1)ol adsorption densities of 0.26 and 0.71 nm2 per molecule were found, respectively, the major difference in the energetics of adsorption on these two types of surfaces being entropic in nature.
