Title: Multispectral Aerial Photography as Exploration Tool-I: Concepts, Techniques and Instrumentation
Abstract: This paper is the first in a series devoted to an evaluation of multispectral aerial photography as exploration tool. It points out that the "text-book" approach to multispectral photography is characterised by "in situ" spectral reflectance measurements, scientific selection of camera filters, quantitative photography, and interpretation using additive techniques. The concepts and methods appropriate to each of these phases is discussed in detail. Subsequent papers will describe actual experiments that were carried out in different geological environments.
