Abstract: Optical properties of CdSe QD-like insertions of different nominal thickness in Zn(S)Se matrix have been investigated at different temperatures. Real absorption spectra extracted from the transmission and reflection spectra have been obtained. It is shown that when the nominal thickness of CdSe increases, the peak in the optical density spectrum, which corresponds to the absorption by QDs, shifts to lower energies and becomes more pronounced. Strain distribution, carrier spectrum and exciton binding energy in disk-like QDs which form a periodic array have been calculated. The results of calculations are used to interprete the obtained experimental data. The calculated positions of the QD absorption maxima are in good agreement with the experimental ones.
