Title: Early events after the interaction of NGF with sympathetic nerve cells
Abstract: Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a substance which plays an important role in the differentiation, maintenance, and control of direction of growth of sympathetic neurones. In this article, David Schubert describes experiments using a clonal tissue culture line of sympathetic ganglion-like cells and suggests that cAMP, calcium ion fluxes, and increased cell-substratum adhesion are involved in NGF-induced neurite extension.
