Title: Studies on Monogenetic Trematodes. XXV. Six New Species of Ancyrocephalinae from the Gills of Zanclus canescens (Linnaeus) with a Key to the Genera of Ancyrocephalinae
Abstract: Six new species of Ancyrocephalinae, namely, Hamatopeduncularia heraldi, Parahaliotrema dempsteri, P. parahaliotrema, Pseudohaliotrema brevis, P. canescens, and P. zanclus are described from the gills of the Moorish Idol, Zanclus canescens (Linnaeus). Parahaliotrema is proposed as a new genus. It differs from the nearest related genera: (1) Haliotrema by the presence of eyespots, confluent intestinal crura, and a dextral instead of a dextroventral vagina; (2) Metahaliotrema by the presence of a vagina, and (3) Pseudohaliotrema by the presence of eyespots.
