Abstract: It is with a deep sense of the great honor which has been bestowed on me that I come before you, and I can assure you that I appreciate very much the invitation which your chairman sent me to give an address before the Section on Nervous and Mental Diseases of the American Medical Association. I must confess to feeling somewhat disconcerted at the imposing names of professors who have preceded me, and I must crave your indulgence if I fail to attain the high standard which they have set.
