Abstract: The term tarsus (hock) refers to the region between the crus and the metatarsus, and designates the compound joint comprising 7 tarsal bones. For clinical purposes an account of the gross and radiographic anatomy of this joint has to include the distal extremities of the tibia and fibula, and the bases of the metatarsal bones because these form an integral part of its construction.
