The variation of this reduction with time, temperature, acid concentration, amount of nickel and concentration of antimony has been studied. Using 5·0 g. of fine nickel powder, solutions containing up to 1·5 g. of antimony in 100 ml. of dilute HCl (1 ‐‐‐ 3) were reduced in 20 minutes, provided the solution was undisturbed and was heated on a water bath. Experiments using sheet nickel in place of powder are described and a suggestion offered for some of the phenomena observed.Read More
