Title: The resource war: The need for a Western strategy
Abstract: Abstract The resource war is the main challenge for Western democracies today because their dependence on imported energy and raw materials is aggravated by global Soviet power projection. The situation is even more complicated by the internal instability of the respective countries of the Third World and by the fact that the conflicts among these countries are reflected in the internal politics of the Western democracies. A strategy to match this challenge has not yet been developed and the main approaches are neither adequate nor feasible for domestic reasons. A new strategy of patience and cooperation is necessary to reconcile the international challenge with the domestic decision‐making process in both the industrialized and the developing countries.
