Title: The second law of classical thermodynamics stated in terms of twin systems
Abstract: An alternative formulation of the second law of thermodynamics is presented in terms of twin systems in thermal equilibrium. This formulation allows a direct derivation of the thermodynamic variables of absolute temperature and entropy. The efficiency of Carnot cycles is also derived. Irreversible processes are defined in part two of the second law and the Kelvin-Planck and Clausius statements of the second law are derived.
