Title: Dr Hugh Staunton and the Irish Medical Journal
Abstract: <h3>To the Editor. —</h3> The St Patrick's Day feature in<i>JAMA</i>on the<i>Irish Medical Journal</i>has just come to my attention.<sup>1</sup>While I broadly concur with the analysis and sentiments expressed, there are some minor errors of fact relating to my tenure. Since it is very much a "setting the record straight on the<i>Irish Medical Journal</i>," I would like to bring these to the attention of<i>JAMA</i>and its readers. It is stated that, unlike Dr O'Brien, I was a member of the Irish Medical Organization at the time of my application for the post of editor. In fact, I was a member neither at the time of application nor at appointment. I later joined the Irish Medical Association, as it was then called.
