Title: Enforcement of Arbitral Awards in the Arab Countries
Abstract: Once an international arbitral award is made and is not performed voluntarily, a new stage arises where the courts are called upon to execute the award. This article discusses the problem of how a party who is successful on the arbitration can introduce an international arbitral award into the legal system of an Arab country so that it becomes enforceable therein. The New York Convention is, of course, me main reference, even if it is not the sole one. On the subject of enforcement of foreign international awards, some Arab legislation on international arbitration goes much farther than the New York Convention. This is the case notably in Lebanon and Algeria which have been influenced by French Law in this field.
