Abstract: • Stump appendicitis is a rare but serious postoperative complication of an appendectomy . • Diagnosticians in error may rule out appendicitis when a history of appendectomy is reported. • Stump appendicitis is a disease in which a remnant of the appendix becomes inflamed. • Clinical presentation of stump appendicitis is indistinguishable from appendicitis. • The purpose of this article is to raise awareness about stump appendicitis.
