Abstract: The present theoretical understanding of the EMC effect is reviewed and questions for experiment are posed. The empirical status of rescaling is discussed and I show how it can make statements about the static properties of bound nucleons; in particular that gAgV and μ of bound nucleons are unchanged from their free values once pion exchange contributions are taken into account. This suggests that the increased correlation length for quarks is due to exchange effects, not due to physical swelling of nucleons.
