Title: The relation of cotton crop growth and development to final yield
Abstract: Crop cotton growth, development and yield data are presented for two locatiions in the coastal plains region of Israel. The final total boll weights are 85% and 55% of the potential values, as calculated from the observed rates of net photosynthesis. A simple mathematical model is found to give reasonable agreement with the experimental results, and is used as a basis for further analysis. The low yield at one location is due to the slow initial rate of blooming, and to the short duration of the high rate of photosynthesis. The effect of each of these factors is evaluated quantitatively.
