Title: China English: Issues, Studies and Features
Abstract: AbstractThe English language is becoming increasingly important in China, for the country as a whole and for individuals, and the language is thus taking roots in this country as it is doing elsewhere. The present paper presents an overview of “China English” studies in the past twenty years, from the debate over the definition to specific studies concerning different aspects of such a newcomer in the family of world Englishes. The author also summarizes the characteristics of China English with respect to phonology, lexicon and discourse and suggests directions for future research.
