R. ; Mutel, R. L. Abstract It is pointed out that the physics of interstellar OH masers is still not well understood. In particular, the pump mechanism which inverts the masing molecules has not been well established. An observational constraint which may distinguish between the various pump models is the determination of the relative position of maser features in the various ground-state transitions from the same source. The present investigation is concerned with such a determination of relative positions, taking into account a series of single baseline Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations of several H II regions containing strong OH maser emission using a phase coherent frequency switching technique. This approach made it possible to measure the relative positions of both main-line (1665 MHz and 1667 MHz) transitions to an accuracy of approximately 10 milli-arcsec. In addition, the relative positions of opposite circularly polarized components was measured to search for possible Zeeman doublets.
