Title: Contingent valuation techniques for assessing environmental impacts: Further evidence
Abstract: This paper provides further evidence on the development and application of the iterative bidding technique used to assess environmental impacts. Three specific issues—the hypothetical nature of the survey technique, the questionnaire information structure, and the bidding procedure starting point—are examined theoretically and empirically to determine their effect on individual bid behavior. The empirical results indicate that the importance of these influences may have been overstated in earlier studies.
