In contrast, Kyoto-Wistar rats (from which SHR are derived) demonstrate no decrease in renin release with age. The decline in basal renin release observed in SHR occurs at a time when the animal develops hypertension. However, the ability of renin release to respond to stimuli, such as norepinephrine, is enhanced at the time of declining basal renin release and developing hypertension.Read More
