Title: The i.r. spectra of matrix isolated water species—III. Infrared spectra and assignments of 18O containing monomer and dimer water species in argon matrices
Abstract: Experimental frequencies, assignments and band origins are given for H218O, D218O and HD18O isolated in argon matrices at 7 K. Perturbed monomer frequencies ν1, ν2, ν3 are given for the dimer water species water … H18OH, H218O … water, water … D18OD, D218O … water, water … D18OH and HD18O … water. The relative simplicity of the spectra suggests that dynamical coupling between the units in the water dimer is very small which provides further evidence that the water dimer in an argon matrix has an open, rather than a cyclic structure.
