Title: Gravimetric determination of cerium(IV) and its separation from rare earths using 3-acetyl-4-hydroxycoumarin
Abstract: 3-Acetyl-4-hydroxycoumarin has been used for the gravimetric determination of cerium(IV) between pH 4.0 and 8.5. Since the reagent does not form any complexes with other trivalent rare earths, estimations of ceric salts can be readily carried out even when these are present in large quantities.
