Title: The extension of cancer of the head and neck through peripheral nerves
Abstract:
Abstract
Invasion and extension along peripheral nerves by cancer of the head and neck region is more common than is usually realized. Eighty cases exhibiting this manner of spread are reported with the clinical and pathologic findings. Recognition of this manner of spread at the time of surgery may lead to modification of the usual surgical resection which may result in greater hope of cure. Recognition of this manner of spread helps to explain a number of recurrences and clinical syndromes which are otherwise puzzling.
