Title: An exploration of the use of ultrasound in the treatment of chronic venous leg ulcers.
Abstract: Leg ulceration is a chronic, relapsing and remitting condition, which has a significant personal impact on older people’s health and quality of life. In developed countries venous leg ulcers represent up to 84% of all leg ulcer cases. The total cost of leg ulcer management in the UK in 1989 was estimated to be between £150 million and £600 million per annum, with more than 60% of this attributed to community-based nursing services.
